i'm surprised to find out from an interview in the star that two original members of the doors have rekindled the band and hired a new vocalist, ian astbury, formerly of the english band the cult. in fact they have been performing since 2001, however due to some legal mess have taken the name riders on the storm instead of the doors. as a fan of the original band, i'm a bit sceptical with this move, because i think the lizard king himself, jim morrison, is unreplaceable. but from the interview manzarek seems so sure that morrison would approve of his decision to revive the band. i don't know la....it's just not the same without the late morrison......
i felt the same way when morello and the rest decided to form another band after de la rocha left RATM. but at least they brought in chris cornell and formed audioslave which was a totally new band, hence to compare cornell with de la rocha is just not suitable......but i think most RATM fan would agree that we miss de la rocha's explosive lyrics combined with morello's spellbinding guitar licks......

de la rocha(2nd from right) : they say jump u say how high......
manzarek may beg to differ, but it's not just about singing the words, it's the whole experience we get when we watch the band perform or listen to the band's music.....the collective power of each member's talent, skill, attitude and charisma....especially the aura exuded by the main vocalist.....both morrison and de la rocha have that certain aura which forced us to take notice and listen to whatever they have to say.....

I agree... and if the joy really is in playing the music, like he says, then write some new music and play it.
Let it go...
